Cross Country Heads To Santa Clara Invite

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams travel to the Bay Area to participate in the Santa Clara Invite in Santa Clara, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 16.

Santa Clara Invitational
The Bulldogs will race in their fifth combined event, coming off the Notre Dame Invitational two weeks ago. Fresno State will travel to Santa Clara to participate in the Santa Clara Invite. Last season the men's team had a strong showing at Santa Clara, finishing second, while the women's team finished 10th at the Invite.

The men's team finished 17th in the competitive blue division, out of 21 teams. Fresno State finished with 397 points. The women's team finished ninth in the gold division, out of 19 teams. The Bulldogs ended the race with 257 points. Olivier Collin led the men's team, finishing 33rd with a time of 24:32 in his first race of the season. Danny Vartanian finished 71st in a time of 25:13 and Olivier Bernard finished 80th in a time of 25:18. Marrijtje Molenhuis led the women's team, finishing 27th overall in a time of 18:41. Saylah Barserian finished 40th in a time of 18:49 and Carina Mendoza finished 47th in a time of 18:52.
Up Next
The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams take a week off, before preparing for the WAC Championships. This year, the WAC Championships take place on Oct. 30 in Moscow, Idaho, hosted by the University of Idaho. The women's race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:45 a.m.
