Four `Dogs Win at Idaho

FRESNO, Calif. - In their first road trip of the 2010-11 season, the Fresno State swimmers and divers fell to the Vandals 182-118, Friday night at the University of Idaho swim center while four Bulldogs recorded five victories.

Sophomore Britney Vogel (Fairfield, Calif.) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.00. She also out swam all other competitors in the 200-yard breaststroke for a pair of first place finishes.
"Britney Vogel won both her breaststroke events today and swam well for us," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "Rayanne also had a strong race and Heidi Gjoen improved her backstroke time from last week."
Sophomore Rayanne Nguyen won the 200-yard butterfly and finished second in the 100. Heidi Gjoen also had a second place finish in her 200-yard backstroke race.
Dani Yoho won her 50-yard freestyle event clocking a time of 23.81 and improving greatly from her last race.
"We are still a young team and have a lot to learn," said Fleck. "This is our first road trip and we are learning the amount of focus it takes to compete well on the road. We should have been more competitive today but we did have some standouts."
Off the diving boards freshman Hannah Prigge (Rocklin, Calif.) won her first collegiate diving event. She scored a 239.00 in the 1-meter dive for a first place finish. Prigge also placed second off the 3-meter board, scoring 233.25 points.
Sophomore Stacey Luke (Kenmore, Wash.) placed second in the 3-meter dive with 233.80 points and third off the 1-meter board, 211.80 points, respectively.
"We had some mistakes today and were not as consistent as we need to be," continued Fleck. "These are opportunities to get better and grow as a team."
The `Dogs are 1-2 on the season in dual meets and will now take on the Washington State Cougars Nov. 6.
