RUSTON, La. - The Fresno State women's soccer team keeps the unbeaten streak alive with a 1-0 over Utah State and advances to the championship game of the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs are 9-8-4 on the season. The last time the `Dogs played in the WAC Championship was in 2008.
The Bulldogs put the pressure on early with back-to-back corner kicks in the first seven minutes. Senior Bradlee DeShane took the first shot of the game for the `Dogs.
Fresno State spent most of the half controlling the ball in Utah State's defensive half of the field. The `Dogs did a good job of winning balls in the air to maintain possession.
Senior Katie Lee scored off a corner kick from Krissy Looney to give the `Dogs a 1-0 lead in the first half. Lauren Lindstrom headed the ball the Aggie goalkeeper and Lee chested the ball in for her first career goal. Looney recorded her fourth assist of the season on the play.
In the first half the Bulldogs outshot the Aggies 8-6 and had five shots on goal. First-team All-WAC goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel had four saves in the first 45 minutes of the match. DeShane tallied three shots in the half.
In the second half, Janna Sadowitz nearly scored off a pass from Megan Mossman, but the Aggie goalkeeper had a brilliant save to keep the score 1-0.
Utah State pressured the Bulldogs taking seven shots in the half, but Revel stopped the Aggies from scoring and had five saves.
Revel recorded her third consecutive shutout against Utah State. The last time an opponent scored on the `Dogs was on Oct. 29 against Boise State.
"We Are Your Team" The Bulldogs play for the WAC Championship on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. PT. The `Dogs play the winner of Boise State and San Jose State. Watch live streaming of the game or follow gametracker.
