Bulldogs Battle Villanova in Opener

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team opened the 2010 season on Monday against Villanova from the Big East Conference. The Bulldogs scored two goals in each period but lost 18-4 in Philadelphia.
Fresno State had three different players score goals in Margaret Wolford, Michelle Rose and Amanda Cross. Cross scored the two second half goals for the Bulldogs. Natalie Harrington had one assist. The Bulldogs had 10 shots for the game, with Cross coming up with four.
Katie Wilbur came up with seven saves as she played 57 minutes of the contest.
The Bulldogs trailed 13-2 at halftime but held the Wildcats to only five goals in the second half.
"We Are Your Team- The Bulldogs return to the field on March 3 for a contest at Central Connecticut State at 1 p.m. Pacific Time. Fresno State opens its home season against Detroit on March 11 at 4 p.m.
