Bulldogs Travel to Mile High City

'Dogs travel to Rockies to Battle Denver
After taking on Denver in the Mile High City this week, the Bulldogs travel back to finish the season at home against UC Davis and then stay in California to take on Cal-Berkeley.
Scouting the Pioneers
Denver is currently 10-4 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 in the MPSF. The Pioneers are coming off a home win against Stanford to claim sole possession of first place in the MPSF. The Pioneers' leading scorer is senior midfielder Lexi Sanders, who has 19 goals and 35 assists, totaling 54 points. On the year, the Pioneers have 86 assisted goals and have held their opponents to 47 assisted goals.
Youngsters Leading the Way
The duo of freshmen Amanda Cross and Margaret Wolford have been tough to stop, Cross has a team-best 24 points on 20 goals and four assists while Wolford has nine goals and four assists. Cross is second on the team in ground balls won with 19 while freshman Taylor Fiehler has a team-best 24 ground balls. Overall, freshmen have combined to score 44 goals and dish out 17 assists.
Continued Improvement
Against Detroit on March 11, Fresno State scored a program-best 13 goals. The previous high was 11 goals against Howard in 2009. The Bulldogs have scored 58 goals this season, topping last year's total of 39. Fresno State has already surpassed last year's total of assists, 23 to 3.
If You Add It They Will Come
Lacrosse is catching on in the Central Valley and fans came to Bulldog Stadium in 2009 to support the Bulldogs in their inaugural season. Fresno State led the MPSF in attendance with an average of 575 fans a game in their three home games. Denver averaged 247 fans in six home games and Oregon averaged 241 fans in seven home games. In 2010 Fresno State is averaging 170 people, good for the third best mark in the MPSF. Oregon is averaging 252 people and Stanford has a regular attendance of 223.
Bulldogs in the MPSF Stat Leaders
Katie Wilbur is third in the MPSF with 7.7 saves per game. Taylor Fiehler is fifth in conference with 2.4 ground balls per game and Amanda Cross is ninth with 1.9 goals per game.
