`Dogs Continue Series Saturday

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team rallied for four late inning runs, but Louisiana Tech held on to win the first game of the series, 13-6.
A pair of walks and an error propelled the ninth inning rally where the Bulldogs drove in four runs. Fresno State is 20-15 on the season and 3-2 in WAC.
Muno recorded three walks opening night of the series. He has 144 career walks and needs two walks to break the all-time walk record set by Greg Funk in 1980-83.
Louisiana Tech took at 5-0 lead scoring runs in the first two innings. Four of the five runs scored in the first inning were unearned.
The Bulldogs turned a double play in the first inning and turned another pair in the second inning. Fresno State has a total of 43 double plays this season and one double play behind the national leader, Southern Mississippi.
In the second inning, Steve Detwiler recorded a single to the shortstop for the first hit of the night for the Bulldogs.
LA Tech added another seven runs in the third inning taking their biggest lead of the night 12-0.
Relief pitcher Taylor Garrison had a1-2-3 fifth inning. Garrison left the bases loaded in the sixth inning after recording his second strikeouts of the evening. The sophomore threw four scoreless innings against Louisiana Tech.
The Bulldog bats came alive in the sixth inning bringing in three runs trailing LA Tech, 12-3. Muno walked, his second of the night. Third baseman Garrett Weber singled through the right side moving the runner ahead. Designated hitter Bobby Coyle hit a double off the right field wall bringing in a run.
Junior Jordan Ribera kept the inning going with a single to shallow center field driving in another run. Pinch hitter Trent Soares followed with a double of his own to right field allowing the third run of the inning to cross home plate.
Detwiler walked and Austin Wynns reached on a fielder's choice. Detwiler advanced to third base on a throwing error. Pinch hitter Kaohu Gaspar walked to load the bases. A wild pitch brought Detwiler home and the Bulldogs trail, 12-4.
LA Tech walked in a run as the Bulldogs trail, 13-5. Coyle followed with an RBI single through the left side cutting the lead, 13-6.
Ribera continued the rally with a sacrifice fly to left field the Bulldogs trail by six.
Louisiana Tech won the first game of the series, 13-7.
