Bulldogs Battle Hard in Doubleheader

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State finished the WAC regular season by splitting a doubleheader with Louisiana Tech and No. 44 Boise State on Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
The Bulldogs won the first half of the twinbill, with a 4-0 sweep of Louisiana Tech. Later in the day, Fresno State made a strong push against the 44th-ranked Broncos, but Boise State came away with a 4-3 victory.

Fresno State came out focused, as it swept the doubles point against Louisiana Tech.
The `Dogs kept the momentum as they won the next three singles matches to clinch the victory.
Fresno State sophomore Laura Pola sent away the Lady Techsters' Cecile Vichery in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
No. 117 Renata Kucerkova and recently-surging freshman Melissa McQueen also picked up singles victories for the Bulldogs.
No. 44 Boise State 4, Fresno State 3
Fresno State went toe-to-toe with 44th-ranked Boise State on Saturday in Boise, Idaho, but the Broncos pulled out a narrow 4-3 win.
The two squads split the singles portion of the afternoon with three matches apiece, but Boise State won the doubles point, which turned out to be the difference-maker.
Fresno State senior and 117th-ranked Renata Kucerkova scored an upset over No. 46 Pichittra Thondach, 7-5, 6-2.
Fresno State freshmen Bianca Modoc and Melissa McQueen also picked up valuable singles victories. Modoc defeated Stephanie Jasper, 6-4, 6-1. McQueen knocked off the Bianca Jochimsen, 6-2, 7-5, to extend her record to a perfect 8-0 in WAC play.
"We couldn't have been closer in doubles and I'm proud of Melissa, Renata and Bianca, they played solid," Fresno State head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "We will take the positive away from this match as we head into the WAC Tournament."
The Bulldogs will next be in action on April 24 for Senior Day against Cal Poly at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
