Bulldogs Play Stanford at MPSF Tourney

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State lacrosse team will go into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament as the No. 7 seed and will play No. 2 seeded Stanford on Thursday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at the University of Denver. Fans can watch each game on the Denver athletics website by clicking on the live events page for a fee of $9.95.
Stanford is ranked No. 15 in the country and boast an 11-5 record and a 5-1 conference record. Stanford is the top goal scoring team in the conference at 14.19 a contest. Sarah Flynn leads the Cardinal in goals scored with 36 while Lauren Schmidt has a team-best 18 assists.
Youngsters Leading the Way
The duo of freshmen Amanda Cross and Margaret Wolford have been tough to stop, Cross has a team-best 24 points on 20 goals and four assists while Wolford has nine goals and four assists. Cross and Taylor Fiehler have each won 25 ground balls. Overall, freshman have combined to tally 62 of the Bulldogs 85 points.
Recapping the 2009 MPSF Tourney
Fresno State lost in the first round to Oregon, 19-2. Christian Cabias was named to the MPSF All-Tournament Team.
Bulldogs in the MPSF Stat Leaders
Amanda Cross ranks 10th in the conference in shots per game at 3.92 while Krisdina Gehring is first in the conference in caused turnovers at 2.00. Katie Wilbur is third in saves per game at 7.75. As a team, the Bulldogs are fourth in the MPSF in caused turnovers at 10.08 and third in saves per game at 8.31.
