FRESNO, Calif. - Krisdina Gehring became the first Fresno State lacrosse student-athlete to earn all-conference honors as she was named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation second-team in a vote that was conducted by the conference coaches.
"We are so proud that Dina has earned this honor," Fresno State coach Sue Behme said. "She is very deserving of it. It is so exciting to see a player that has only played lacrosse for two years and in our second year as a program be recognized on such a high level in our conference. To have Dina earn this honor for our program and to be among some of the top players in the country from Stanford, Denver, Cal, and Oregon is a true testament to where we are headed."
Gehring has played and started in all 14 games for Fresno State and has been a main stay for the Fresno State defense. She leads the MPSF in caused turnovers at two a game and finished with a team-best 28. The Bulldog defender also won 20 ground balls and had one assist.
Stanfords Lauren Schmidt was named the MPSF Player of the Year while Cardinal coach Amy Bokker was named the Coach of the Year. Kara Secora from Denver was named the Newcomer of the Year.
"We Are Your Team"- The Fresno State Athletics Department will hold a yard sale at the Blue Lot of Bulldog Stadium on Saturday at 8 a.m. All items on sale are $25 or less.
