Fresno State Splits Doubleheader

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State split a twinbill with New Mexico State and Utah State on Friday in Las Cruces, N.M., with a victory over Utah State.
New Mexico State 4, Fresno State 3
The Bulldogs started off the day with match against the host New Mexico State Aggies, with New Mexico State picking up a 4-3 victory.
In doubles action, Renata Kucerkova and Laura Pola teamed together to defeat Isabela Kulaif and Aleksa Costa, 8-2.
In singles action, Kucerkova remained hot against WAC foes, as she defeated Sophia Marks, 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman Melissa McQueen also was victorious, with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Costa.
Fresno State 4, Utah State 1
The Bulldogs capped off the doubleheader with a dominant 4-1 victory over Utah State on Friday in Las Cruces, N.M.
Fresno State took command of the match from the beginning by sweeping the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Laura Pola and Renata Kucerkova knocked off Hailey Swenson and Jaclyn West, 8-0. Bianca Modoc and Melissa McQueen picked up an 8-1 victory over Kristina Voytsekhovich and Taylor Perry. Anna Mikhaylova and Julia Gragera-Cano beat Britney Watts and Monica Abella, 8-4.
The `Dogs kept the momentum into singles, by picking up three more victories to seal the victory.
Kucerkova, McQueen and Gragera-Cano each were victorious in singles to clinch the match for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will finish the weekend with a match against No. 75 Nevada on Saturday in Las Cruces, N.M.
