FRESNO, Calif. - The improved consistency of Fresno State's Stacey Luke and Kendra Weeks powered both Bulldog divers into the finals of the platform event on Sunday afternoon at the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational in Los Angeles.
"Stacey and Kendra both did extremely well," head diving coach Taryn Patrick said. "Both of them were much more consistent than earlier in the season. They are both not far off qualifying for NCAA Zones. I am very proud of them."
Both Luke and Weeks delivered their career-best scores on the platform.
Luke finished seventh in the finals of the tower dives with a score 203.45 after rebounding from an 11th place showing in the preliminaries and a 187.50 through her first five jumps. Her previous best mark on the platform was 186.75 in November's Wildcat Diving Invite hosted by the University of Arizona.
Weeks ended in the day in 12th place (180.70), but entered the finals in the ninth position (194.80). Her performance in the prelims bested her previously top mark of 185.90 at the Wildcat Diving Invite.
Hannah Prigge, the Bulldogs' third diver at the meet, was scratched by Patrick from the final day of competition to rest a previously injured shoulder. She had dove on Friday and Saturday in the springboard events.
The WAC Championships will take place Feb. 21-26 in San Antonio, Texas.
