Action Underway at Las Vegas Showdown

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team sits in a tie for 13th place after the first round of competition at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev. The three-day tournament, held at the 6,329-yard, par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club, is hosted by UNLV.
The Bulldogs shot a 9-over, 297 to tie with Missouri and are only one stroke behind No. 48 East Carolina.The `Dogs are lead by junior Shaylee Yano who posted a 1-under, 71, her lowest round of the season, to tie for 17th. Yano shot a 3-under over her final 11 holes which included three birdies and no bogeys.
Freshman Madchen Ly also recorded her lowest round of the season with an even-par, 72, tying 15 others for 25th place. Ly fired birdies on the par-3 second and par-5 ninth and 13th.
Krysta Clark sits in a tie for 58th at 4-over while Louisa Lies (78, +6) and Hillary Billingsley (84, +12) are in 73rd and 89th place, respectively.
No. 21 UC Davis holds the team lead at 11-under, followed by No. 37 San Diego State at 8-under and No. 41 Pepperdine at 7-under. Grace Na of Pepperdine sits in the individual lead at 9-under with Christine Wong in second at 5-under.
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday for the second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown with tee times set for 7:30 a.m. PST.
