FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Stacey Luke was named the Verizon WAC Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 17-23.
Luke, a junior from Kenmore, Wash. (Inglemoor HS), won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions against Fresno Pacific. She scored a 267.05 on the 1-meter dive, good for a NCAA Zone diving qualification mark, and scored 272.10 on the 3-meter dive.
"Stacey was very consistent Saturday and it was a very good start to our season," Diving Coach Taryn Patrick said. "She performed a new dive on the 3-meter and it was looking pretty good."
Luke's performance helped Fresno State open the new Fresno State Aquatics Center with a 169-118 victory.
Up next the 'Dogs travel to neighboring state Nevada for the first WAC competition of the 2011-12 season as they take on the Wolf Pack. They compete Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. in Reno, Nev.
