Patel Makes Moves at Pacific Invite

FRESNO, Calif. - Senior Bhavik Patel moved up 14 spots to finish the second round of the Pacific Invitational in a tie for 17th. The Bulldogs as a team are in 12th place at 37-over (286-319--605).
Patel, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., started the second day strong with a birdie on the 576-yard, par-5 10th hole. He sank two more birdies throughout the day and posted a 2-over, 73 to sit at 3-over (72-73--145) for the tournament.Rufie Fessler (71-81--152, +10) and Jack Mulroy (79-85--164, +22) are in 45th and 60th place, respectively, while Nate Jessup (68-87--155, +13) and Brian Sunker (75-80--155, +13) are both tied for 53rd.
Colorado State gained control of the team lead at 5-over (280-293--573) with Oregon State only two shots behind at 7-over (279-296--575). Nevada's Kevin Lucas took over the individual lead at 5-under (66-71--137), one stroke ahead of both Oregon State's Alex Moore (68-70--138, -4) and Kirby Pettitt (69-69--138, -4) of Colorado State.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday to compete in the final round of the Pacific Invitational with tee times starting at 8 a.m. PT.
