'Dogs Wrap Up Fall Season

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team ended their fall season on a high note as they carded the third-best score during the final round of the Pacific Invitational. The Bulldogs shot an even-par, 284 to move into 11th place (286-319-284--889, +37).
Rufie Fessler, a junior from Bakersfild, Calif., posted the second-best round of the day with a 4-under, 67, his lowest of the season, to move up 20 positions into a tie for 25th place at 6-over (71-81-67--219). Fessler, who did not record an under-par hole during the second round, opened up the day with a bang as he eagled the 576-yard, par-5 10th and sank five birdies throughout the final round.Bhavik Patel, ranked the No. 60 collegiate golfer by Golfstat.com, was the top finisher for the `Dogs as he placed in a tie for 12th at 3-over (72-73-71--216). Patel, for the third time in a row, recorded three birdies and finished the day at even-par.
Senior Brian Sunker fired an eagle on the 532-yard, par-5 18th hole and shot a 1-over, 73 to finish tied for 47th at 14-over (75-80-72--227). Nate Jessup (68-87-79--234, +21) and Jack Mulroy (79-85-74--238, +25) placed 56th and 60th, respectively.
Oregon State claimed the team title after out-shooting Nevada in a one-hole playoff, 4-under to 2-under. Kevin Lucas of Nevada took home the individual title with a birdie on the 18th to win by one stroke at 6-under par.
The Bulldogs will open their spring season Feb. 15-17 at the John A. Burns Invitational on the island of O'ahu in Hawai'i.
