'Dogs Swim Into Top 25

FRESNO, Calif. - The first CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Division I Ranking has been released. Towson University leads the way on the women's side followed closely by San Jose State.
Now in its 10th year, the Mid-Major Rankings serve to provide an objective point system to compare teams' relative strength in a traditional dual meet lineup. The ranking is available to those institutions that a) are not members of a BCS conference or Mountain West Conference, or b) provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules.
Rounding out the top ten women's teams were San Jose State, James Madison, Harvard, Miami-OH, Florida Gulf Coast, Denver, Western Kentucky, Buffalo and Columbia.
The Fresno State Bulldogs swam into the top 25 placing twenty-third in the first ranking of the season. The Bulldogs are 2-3 in dual meets on the season, recording wins against Fresno Pacific and Seattle University. At the Arena Invitational in Long Beach the Bulldogs swam season best times in almost every event, showing consistent improvement at each competition.
To wrap up the 2011 year, the 'Dogs will take on WAC rival the Idaho Vandals on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
