Late Run Sparks `Dogs Victory

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - After a slow start, the Fresno State women's basketball team settled down in the second half and defeated CSU Northridge 70-61. The Bulldogs trailed by 14 early in the second half before going on a 21-10 run to earn their seventh win of the season.
Sophomore Ki-Ki Moore led the team with 16 points, 12 of which she scored in the second half. Moore also had two steals and three rebounds. Junior Rosie Moult added 13 points and team-high eight rebounds.
Sophomore Taylor Thompson recorded seven assists and 11 points against the Matadors. Senior Veronica Wilson was the fourth Bulldog to score double digits with 11 points.
Moore opened the second half on fire making back-to-back 2-pointers as the `Dogs began to chip away at the Matadors lead. With 15:36 remaining on the clock the
Bulldogs trailed by six. Moore's eight unanswered points in the first five minutes of the half sparked a 21-10 run by the Bulldogs regain the lead with 11:42 left in the game.
The 3-pointers started dropping for the `Dogs in the second half and helped Fresno State take a 57-51 lead over the Matadors with 7:09 left in the game. The Bulldogs shot NUMBER three's in the final half of the game after making only three in the first half.
Fresno State's largest lead of the game was nine points late in the second half. After several lead changes in the first half, the `Dogs regained the lead with 13:18 on the clock and kept the lead until time ran out.
The Bulldogs were 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute of the game to help seal the win over CSUN. The `Dogs forced the Matadors to turn the ball over 20 times and resulted in 23 points for Fresno State.
The Matadors scored first taking an early 3-0 lead before the `Dogs answered with a 7-3 run to take the lead. CSUN tied the game with 13 minutes left in the half before the Matadors took a one point lead. Wilson answered with a 3-pointer to regain the lead for the Bulldogs.
The lead changed six times during the first half before the Matadors pulled ahead. At halftime, Fresno State trailed CSU Northridge 37-29. Wilson led the team with six first half points, while Moult led the team with five rebounds.
The Bulldogs host CSU Bakersfield on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. The `Dogs lead the over series over the Roadrunners 4-0.
