Bulldogs' Road Trip Continues
The Fresno State lacrosse team is back on the road after opening the season with a 21-4 loss at No. 13 Stanford on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are now turning their attention toward UC Davis in this MPSF league game. The Fresno State lacrosse program, now in its third season, finished 0-14 last season and is still looking for its first win.
Scouting The Aggies
UC Davis gave Cal a game but came out on the losing end, falling 15-11 last Sunday. Sophomore Elizabeth Datino shot 4-for-4 with two ground balls and a caused turnover. The Aggies went from a 6-12 record two years ago to a 11-6 mark in 2010, prompting LaxPower.com to deem UC Davis as the "most improved" Division I team in the country based on the site's power ratings.
Last Time Out
Fresno State faced a daunting task in its season-opener Wednesday night. The Bulldogs traveled to Palo Alto, where they ran into a determined Stanford squad and fell 21-4. Sophomore attacker Amanda Cross, who led Fresno State in scoring last season, picked up from where she left off and led the Bulldogs with two goals.Sophomore midfielders Sophie Walker and Natalie Harrington also scored for Fresno State (0-1).
A Look Back At Year 2
The Bulldogs experienced undeniable growth during the 2010 season. Indeed, Fresno State improved in many statistical categories from its first season in 2009. Krisdina Gehring became the first Fresno State lacrosse player to earn all conference honors as she earned second-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a defender last season. Gehring was second in the conference in caused turnovers a game at 1.93. She had 27 total caused turnovers which was a team-best.
"We Are Your Team!" -- When the Bulldogs play their home-opener March 7 against Bryant, the first 100 fans through the gate will get a free Fresno State lacrosse T-shirt. The team will also be available for autographs following the game.
