About Boise State
The Broncos, under first year coach Leon Rice, are 15-11 overall and 7-6 in WAC play. BSU enters the week with a four-game winning streak that halted a four-game losing streak. The current win streak began with a last winning on Jan. 22 at Idaho (70-67). Last weekend the Broncos lost to Hawaii at home, 73-66, and at Utah 75-61 win over Fresno State on Feb. 10. La'Shard Anderson leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game. He ranks 15th in the NCAA in steals per game (2.5). Daequon Montreal is the teams' top rebounder at 5.6 per game, to go along with a scoring average of 10.4 ppg. As a team, the Broncos have been very good at taking the ball away, ranking third in the nation in turnover margin (5.5) and 16th in steals (9.0). The Broncos have played three overtime games this season, including a won over UC Santa Barbara in its ESPN BracketBusters game last Saturday, 78-76. After Thursday's game, the Broncos head to Nevada on Saturday.
Against Boise State
Based on a Boise State win in the first game of this season series, the all-time series is even at 14-14 wins each. The Bulldogs have just two wins in the last eight games against the Broncos.
Stretch Toward WAC Tournament
The 2011 WAC Tournament is less than two weeks away and four of the WAC teams, including Fresno State, have just three games remaining. The remaining WAC schools have four league games left on the schedule. Utah State has already claimed at last a share of the regular season title and a bye through to the semifinals of the WAC tournament. The Bulldogs can reach the fourth seed by winning all of their remaining games, two of which are at home. The Dogs, currently in seventh place, need one win - or a Louisiana Tech loss - to secure a spot in the WAC tournament.
Dogs Are WAC's Best Off the Bench
Fresno State continues to lead the WAC in points from the bench. The Bulldogs are getting 23.9 points from its bench, just ahead of Utah State (23.5) for most in the WAC. The Dogs have gotten 40 or more points from the bench in four games this season.
