FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State couldn't find an answer for La'Shard Anderson or a nasty BSU full-court press. At the end of the night, the Dogs could not get in sync and were outgunned by a Bronco sharpshooter in a 70-56 loss at the Save Mart Center.
The Dogs were coming off consecutive dominating wins and looking to build some momentum heading into the final three WAC games. Despite a solid first half in which they lead for nearly 19 minutes, the Dogs could not handle a 17-3 Bronco run to open the second half that put the game out of reach.
The closest Fresno State would get after that was 57-47 with 5:10 remaining in the game.
Anderson finished with a game with 31 points, tying his career high.
Kevin Olekaibe was Fresno State's only consistent scoring threat. He scored 16 of the first 34 points by the Dogs and finished the game with 23 points.
"This was not what I expected at home," said head coach Steve Cleveland. "I can't explain 18 turnovers and only shooting 25 percent in the second half. We felt good at halftime and knew what we wanted to do but every time we went down, we turned the ball over and they made us pay on the other end and they created separation and forced us to play catch-up. We didn't handle that very well, obviously. We will take a couple days off and then we have to get back to work to get ready for Idaho and Hawai'i next week."
Fresno State will have a week off before returning to WAC action at Idaho, the last WAC road trip of the season.
