Dogs' Homestand Continues
After opening the season with a strenuous four-game road trip, Fresno State is finally home for a three-game stay. The Bulldogs wrap up their homestand Tuesday with a nonconference game. Fresno State is still searching for its first win in the three-year history of the program.
Scouting Navy
Navy began the defense of its Patriot League title with a 17-7 victory over Bucknell last week. Freshman Aimee Gennaro and sophomore Jasmine DePompeo combined for 13 goals in the win. Gennaro, who is leading the country with 32 goals, scored a season-high of seven goals and added one assist.
The Series vs. Navy
The Bulldogs are 0-1 all-time against Navy. In the teams' only previous meeting, Fresno State fell 23-2 last season.
Last Time Out
Four players scored for the Fresno State, but the varied effort wasn't enough, as the Bulldogs fell to Saint Mary's College 15-4 last week. The Gaels jumped out to an 8-3 halftime lead and never looked back, outshooting Fresno State 32-13 and leaving the squad still in search of its first win of the season. Rachel Minarovich, Amanda Cross, Heather Jack and Briana Hetherington scored for the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3 MPSF). Fresno State struck first when Cross found the back of the net with 20:29 left in the first half.
A Look Back At Year 2
The Bulldogs experienced undeniable growth during the 2010 season. Indeed, Fresno State improved in many statistical categories from its first season in 2009. Krisdina Gehring became the first Fresno State lacrosse player to earn all conference honors as she earned second-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a defender last season. Gehring was second in the conference in caused turnovers a game at 1.93. She had 27 total caused turnovers which was a team-best.
