Dogs Hit The Road Again
Fresno State is back on the road after enjoying a four-game homestand. The Bulldogs kick off a weeklong venture with Tuesday's visit to Liberty. They do so looking for their first win program history.
Scouting Liberty
The Lady Flames enter the game looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Liberty got off to a fast start last week against Central Connecticut State but a 12-0 run by the opposition sent the Lady Flames to a 19-10 loss. Freshman Karis Walborn led Liberty with five goals in the contest, followed by Nina Dunay with two. Junior captain Kristin Crowley, Candice Parsons and Anna Starling each chipped in a goal, apiece.
The Series vs. Liberty
In the three-year history of the lacrosse program, the Bulldogs have yet to face the Lady Flames. This is the first matchup in the series.
Last Time Out
Fresno State suffered its seventh consecutive loss with a 22-6 setback against Navy last week. Margaret Wolford paced the Bulldogs with two goals, while Amanda Cross, Rachel Minarovich, Lauren Natale and Paula Badali scored one each.
Consistent Cross
Sophomore attacker Amanda Cross, last season's leading scorer, has picked up right where she left off. Cross led the Bulldogs with 20 goals as a freshman, and she has now scored at least one goal in the past four games. Cross currently leads the team with 12 points.
A Look Back At Year 2
The Bulldogs experienced undeniable growth during the 2010 season. Indeed, Fresno State improved in many statistical categories from its first season in 2009. Krisdina Gehring became the first Fresno State lacrosse player to earn all conference honors as she earned second-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a defender last season. Gehring was second in the conference in caused turnovers a game at 1.93. She had 27 total caused turnovers which was a team-best.
"We Are Your Team!" -- Be sure to come to Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, April 2, as Fresno State lacrosse players from past and present reunite for an alumni game. The fun starts at noon, and admission is free.
