Statement from Thomas Boeh regarding the search for head men's basketball coach
"As you know, earlier this week, we began the process to select Fresno State's next head men's basketball coach. As expected, there is tremendous public interest and speculation regarding the outcome of this particular endeavor. This is a common and natural phenomenon - and it speaks well of the tremendous passion that our community holds for the Fresno State Bulldogs! Our job is to now complete the task at hand."
"To that end, earlier this week a group of five individuals came together to serve as the search screening committee. Throughout the past several days this group has been engaged in research, processing nominations, gathering credentials and background materials, and contacting prospective candidates. Please be assured that the search is being conducted in full compliance with all appropriate policies and procedures of the California State University. The screening process will continue until a final pool of candidates is fully vetted and deemed adequate to complete the search. From that point, further research and interviews will be conducted until the final selection. "
"As in most searches of this nature, there is genuine need for discretion and confidentiality throughout the process. This is due to the fact that many of the most qualified and attractive prospective candidates - including those individuals that may well prove to be the very best fit for Fresno State - are simply unwilling to participate in a search process where strict confidentiality is not assured. It is our sincere hope that those in the media, as well as all members of our community, will remain sensitive to this unique dynamic and understand that we are not positioned to provide further details or comment at this time."
"It our intent to bring this search process to a conclusion at the earliest possible date. However, we are unable to accurately predict the specific timeframe. I can report that there has been tremendous interest in the position from numerous highly qualified prospective candidates. Subsequently, the future of the Fresno State's men's basketball program will be in very good hands very soon. Thank you for your consideration."
