Dogs Reunite with Alumni for Fun Match

FRESNO, Calif. - The North Gym was full of former and current Bulldogs on Saturday, March 26 that produced some very entertaining volleyball in the first Alumni game of the Lauren Netherby-Sewell era.
"Every seat was taken, people were standing, girls came with handmade signs, and the alumni game was a great success," graduating Bulldog Kelly Mason said.
It was a weekend for reunions and reminiscing great stories from the past. Some had kept in great contact while other former Bulldogs hadn't seen each other in over 30 years.
"It was a great reunion," alumni Lisa Gera expressed. "It was so fun to have everybody back in town for the weekend to share all our old memories and reconnect with former and current players."
The former Bulldogs and the 2010-11 players arrived at 1 p.m. Each past and current player introduced themselves with their name, position, and when and who they played for.
After an impressive hitting warm-up by the alumni, the 2010-11 team took the floor to show off their skills. Each team had a regular length warm-up and then the fun began.
"The gym was loud with cheering, heckling, and great competitive banter," Mason added.
The alumni had good energy, incredible plays, and put up a great fight, but it wasn't enough to beat the technically sound young guns. In a three set sweep the 2010-11 team won 25-17, 25-17, and 25-16.
With the help of graduating seniors Kasey Galbraith (Van Grouw) and Mason, the 2010-11 team saw success on the court and a victory at the end.
"The alumni game was very entertaining and everyone seemed to have a great time," former player Allanah Colburn (Munson) said. "I'm already looking forward to next year's game."
The alumni were able to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. Whether they played or just came to watch, the alumni took a trip down memory lane.
"It was a great opportunity to play with the alumni that we've never met before," alumni Lexi Watson noted. "It was a lot of fun being back in the North Gym and it brought back some great memories."
