Home Sweet Home
After opening the season with a strenuous four-game road trip, Fresno State is finally home for a three-game stay. The Bulldogs played their home opener on Monday and now turn their attentions toward Saint Mary's College in Thursday afternoon's MPSF game. Fresno State is still searching for its first win in the three-year history of the program.
Scouting The Gaels
Like Fresno State, Saint Mary's is still playing for its first win of the season. The Gaels are coming off a 19-11 loss to Vermont in which Mariah Walk scored four goals and added one assist. Jillian Chong finished with three goals and two assists in the loss.
The Series vs. Saint Mary's College
The Bulldogs are 0-2 all-time against the Gaels. Saint Mary's has outscored Fresno State 33-12 in two games, including 16-8 last season.
Last Time Out
Fresno State put forth its best effort of the season in Monday afternoon's 9-7 loss to Bryant. Sophomore midfielder Amanda Cross led the Bulldogs with four goals. Rarely has Fresno State come so close to tasting victory. In three seasons, the Bulldogs have only faced a two-goal margin of defeat three times. Fresno State outshot Bryant 22-21, and Natalie Harrington, Krisdina Gehring and Rachel Minarovich added one goal apiece.
A Look Back At Year 2
The Bulldogs experienced undeniable growth during the 2010 season. Indeed, Fresno State improved in many statistical categories from its first season in 2009. Krisdina Gehring became the first Fresno State lacrosse player to earn all conference honors as she earned second-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a defender last season. Gehring was second in the conference in caused turnovers a game at 1.93. She had 27 total caused turnovers which was a team-best.
