No. 75 Dogs Defeat Spartans, 6-1

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 75 Fresno State women's tennis team (8-12, 5-0 WAC) added another victory to Saturday's day of competition. The Bulldogs defeated Western Athletic Conference foe San Jose Spartans, 6-1 at the Wathen Tennis Center, Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs started off strong and swept the doubles and went on to win all but one in singles. The Dogs advanced their conference record to 5-0 and still remain the only undefeated team in the WAC.
The high momentum in the day continued into Fresno State's second match in day against San Jose State Spartans.
The Bulldogs started strong and swept the WAC opponents in doubles and earning the point right off the back.
Marianne Jodoin's WAC domination continued to shine on court one as she upped her record after defeating the Spartans' Sabastiani Leon Chao, 7-5, 6-2.
In straight-set victories, Laura Pola defeated Christine Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0 on court two and Bianca Modoc was victorious over Anna Guzman, 6-3, 6-1 on court four.
Olga Kirpicheva dominated on court five sweeping her Spartan, 6-0, 6-0 and earning her second singles victory in the day.
Melissa McQueen had to retire early due to an injury.
Abby Hayley's match ended early as well, due to injury from the San Jose side.
Fresno State hosts their final match of the season Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Cal Poly.
