Summer is coming to an end and the school year is about to kick off. What better way to end your summer vacation than to get actively involved in a community event?
Saturday, Aug. 20, is the 2011 Fresno State Watermelon Run.
"We're really excited to hold the Watermelon Run here on campus. It marks the beginning of another cross country season and gives our team a chance to test the waters after summer training," said head cross country coach Sean McManus.
The run is open to the public and continues to gain more and more participants every year. To register mail your entrant information and entry fee to:

The registration fee prior to Wednesday, August 17 is only five dollars and after Wednesday the fee goes up to ten dollars. Please make checks payable to: Fresno State Track Comission. You can sign up the day of the race beginning at 6:45am-7:45am.
"It is a fun community event that brings a lot of the local running community together," McManus said.
The two mile race will begin promptly at 8 A.M. and the four mile race will follow starting at 8:40 A.M.
The race begins and ends at Fresno State's North Gym (On Barstow, just east of Cedar and parking is available in Lot Q).
