Katie DeVault named Sysco Athlete of the Week

Freshman Katie DeVault was named Western Athletic Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday. The 5-9 Santa Ana, Calif. native started both of the Bulldogs games in goal and earned her second consecutive shutout, leading the team to its third. Ranked second in the WAC in shutouts (2), DeVault picked up five saves in 119:30 minutes on the pitch this past week. Her last shutout was against Loyola Marymount, ranked No. 21 in the nation by Soccer America. She boasts a 0.97 goals against average (fourth best in the WAC) this season and has 15 saves in her four starts. DeVault's 3.75 saves per game average places her fifth in the conference.
