Starting Off With a Chase Race

FRESNO, Calif. - Cross Country is taking off to Nevada this weekend to compete in the season opening Chase Race at Rancho San Rafael Park on Friday, Sept. 2. This is the fourth year in a row that Fresno State is opening up their season in Nevada but the first time they will be competing in the Chase Race.
The Chase Race will have both a men's and a women's race with runners competing from Fresno State, UCLA, UC Riverside and Nevada. The men's race will begin at 5:45 p.m. while the women's will begin at 6:15 p.m.
The team is excited to start the 2011 season after finishing last year strong. Both the men and women cross country runners finished in the top 10 at their last regular season meet at Santa Clara. Then, they completed the season with six Fresno State men's and women's cross country team members in the NCAA West Regional in Springfield, Ore.
The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams earned eight All-WAC Academic honors for the fall 2010 season. Four female student-athletes and four male student-athletes achieved on and off the cross country path.
Fresno State coaches are excited to finally start the season and get back on the course with Sean McManus going on his fourth season as Fresno State's cross country Head Coach.
