Day 2 Proved Rough for 'Dogs

FRESNO, Calif. - The men's golf team could not catch a break in Hawai'i on Wednesday at the John A. Burns Invitational. The Bulldogs (292-308--600, +24) currently sit in 14th place as they enter the final day of competition on the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort.
"We hit several ball in the water and lost others," head coach Mike Watney said. "It's a tough course if you hit it crooked and the wind definitely helped with that."Jack Mulroy (78-75--153, +9), a junior from London, England, opened with eight straight pars in route to a 3-over, 75 to move up eight positions.
Brian Sunker (71-77--148, +4) and Nate Jessup (73-77--150, +6) both shot 5-over while juniors Rufie Fessler (73-79--152, +8) and Keenan Nelson (75-79--154, +10) carded 7-over, 79.
Cal held onto the lead and owns a four stroke advantage over SMU at 20-under. Sam Fidone of SMU moved up six positions to sit in a tie for first at 9-under with Duke's Julian Suri.
The Bulldogs will wrap up play at the John A. Burns Invitational Friday with tee times starting at 11:10 a.m. PT for the 'Dogs.
