Sunker Shined in Final Round at Hawai'i

FRESNO, Calif. - Senior Brian Sunker wrapped up the John A. Burns Invitational in Hawai'i by firing his lowest round of the season, a 2-under, 70, as the Bulldogs (292-308-302--902) finished in 14th place as a team.
Sunker (71-77-70--218), a native of Valencia, Calif., shot a 33 on his first nine holes, including back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th. He finished the tournament at 2-over and in a tie for 27th place, moving up 22 positions from the previous day.Keenan Nelson (75-79-75--229) shot a 3-over, 75 to move into a tie for 67th at 13-over while Rufie Fessler (73-79-78--230) was right behind at 14-over and tied for 71st. Jack Mulroy (78-75-79--232, +16) and Nate Jessup (73-77-85--235, +19) finished in ties for 78th and 86th, respectively.
No. 11 California (270-286-291--847) maintained the lead to take home the team title at 17-under, while Julian Suri (65-70-70--205) of Duke pulled away to capture the individual title at 11-under.
"We Are Your Team!" - The Bulldogs return to action Feb. 27-28 to compete in the North Ranch Invitational at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
