'Dogs Tied for Ninth at Spartan Invite

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team finished the first day of competition at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational in a tie for 9th place out of 12 teams at 52-over. The tournament, hosted by San Jose State, is held at the 6,169-yar, par-72 Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose, Calif.
The Bulldogs were paced by freshman Madchen Ly who shot two rounds of 5-over, 77 to finished the day at 10-over and tied for 25th. After only making one birdie during the second round, she knocked in four over the next round to close out the day.Senior Louisa Lies sits in 34th place at 13-over while Christine Uhalde fired a 14-over and is tied for 42nd. Shaylee Yano is a shot behind Uhalde at 15-over and in a tie for 45th place. Sophomores Krysta Clark, competing as an individual, and Alison Timlin are in 57th and 65th place, respectively.
No. 23 Cal holds a five-stroke lead over No. 25 UC Davis for the team lead while Daniela Holmqvist of Cal has a one-shot advantage over teammate Joanne Lee at 4-over for the individual lead.
The 'Dogs will conclude the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational Tuesday with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m. PT.
