Fresno State Stays Unbeaten in WAC

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 57 Fresno State women's tennis team beat Nevada in a 6-1 decision on Sunday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center to improve its Western Athletic Conference record to 3-0.
The Bulldogs (10-6, 3-0 WAC) swept the Wolf Pack (3-8, 0-1 WAC) at all doubles positions to gain a 1-0 lead going into singles. At No. 1 doubles, Marianne Jodoin and Tanya Murtagh bested Michelle Okhremchuk and Emma Verberne, 8-4. The `Dogs clinched the doubles point at No. 3 doubles where Laura Pola and Aishwarya Agrawal defeated Rymma Maslova and Gabriela Eufrasio, 8-4.
In singles, the `Dogs continued strong despite the cold and high winds. Senior Pola quickly bested Eufrasio, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot. Junior Bianca Modoc rallied six points in her second set to defeat Legendre, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 4 singles. The Pack struck back against the `Dogs at No. 3 where Sophie Stevens beat junior Olga Kirpicheva, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The Bulldogs' team win was clinched at No. 1 singles where 47th-ranked singles player, Jodoin bested Okhremchuck, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Freshman Agrawal then beat Verberne, 6-4, 7-6 (6), at No. 2. The match ended at the No. 6 spot where Murtagh defeated Maslova, 7-6, 7-5.
The Bulldogs travel Florida to face-off against No. 5 Miami at 1:30 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
