Bulldog Softball Splits at SJSU

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team split its Sunday doubleheader at San Jose State, winning game one 1-0 before falling 2-1 in the second game at SJSU Field.
The Bulldogs' record now sits at 28-17 overall and 8-2 in the WAC while the Spartans are 22-20 overall and 6-4 in the league.
Sophomore second baseman Brooke Ortiz had one hit in each game to extend her hitting streak to nine games.
Fresno State had nine total hits between the two games with Ortiz, Maria Sio and Brenna Moss each collecting two hits in the two games. Moss hit her fifth triple of the season in game two.
Michelle Moses allowed just one hit in game one, a second-inning single to Annica Wolfe as she improved to 18-11 in the circle with the win. She recorded her 10th shutout of the season in the game where she struck out six, walked just one and induced seven infield pop outs.
The Bulldogs had six hits in game one with Courtney Moore's fourth-inning home run being the one that counted most. It was Moore's seventh home run of the season and extended her hitting streak to nine games, but that ended in game two when she went 0-for-3.
Sio went 2-for-3 in the opening game of the doubleheader to give her six multiple-hit games this season.
BranDee Garcia drove in a pair of runs on a single down the first-base line in the fifth inning of game two to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
Moses hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh, but Fresno State could not back her blast with another run and the `Dogs fell 2-1 in game two.
Moses' homer was her 15th of the season.
Senior Mackenzie Oakes drew the loss in game two while Spartan pitcher Amanda Pridmore, who got the loss in game one, won the second game. SJSU out-hit Fresno State 7-3 in game two.
