HONOLULU - The Fresno State softball team lost both games of its doubleheader at No. 14 Hawai'i, 1-0 in 11 innings and 2-0 on Saturday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
UH (40-5, 14-3 WAC) completed the series sweep of the Bulldogs, who had just three hits on the day. Rainbow Wahine pitcher Stephanie Ricketts threw a no-hitter against Fresno State in the second game.
The Bulldogs drop to 31-20 overall and 11-5 in the WAC with the losses. The `Dogs now stand one game behind BYU for second-place in the league standings with one weekend remaining in the regular season.
The first game was a pitchers dual between Fresno State's Michelle Moses and UH's Kaia Parnaby. Both pitchers went the distance in the 11-inning marathon, which was the longest outing of their respective careers.
Moses didn't allow a hit until the eighth inning and finished the game with eight strikeouts. Parnaby allowed just three hits, but no runs.
After the `Dogs stranded a runner on third in the 11th inning, Kayla Wartner led off the bottom of the 11th with a solo home run on a 2-1 pitch to give the Rainbow Wahine the 1-0 victory.
Wartner then hit another solo home run in the third inning of game two, giving UH a 1-0 lead.
Alex Aguirre gave the `Bows a 2-0 lead in the sixth with a solo home run.
Ricketts kept Fresno State's offense from mounting any rally, as she threw her sixth career no-hitter. Ricketts had seven strikeouts against two walks in the game.
