'Dogs Season Ends in MW Semifinals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The Fresno State soccer team ended its season with a 2-1 loss to No. 3 seed Boise State in double overtime in the Mountain West semifinal round on Friday night at the UNM Soccer Complex in Albuquerque, N.M.
Boise State was the first to get on the scoreboard in the 29th minute with a goal from Kayla Tucker from inside the box. Tucker scored her fifth goal of the season with a double assist from Gabby Garcia and Katy Oehring to put the Broncos up 1-0.
After being outshot seven to four by the Broncos in first half, Fresno State came alive- starting the second half with four shots in the first 10 minutes.
The Bulldogs tied with game with an own goal by Boise State in the 64th minute. Morgan Castain Crossed to Sam Brechmann whose shot and was deflected off a Boise State defender into the goal. The own goal tied the game at 1-1.
Either team was able to find the back of the net the remainder of the second half, the score remained 1-1 at the end of regulation, pushing the Bulldogs in their ninth overtime game of the season.
After exhausting the first overtime period with no score the game went into the second overtime period. Boise State scored in the 109th minute with a goal from KT Clayton to end the Bulldogs eight game unbeaten streak in the semifinal round of the 2013 Mountain West tournament.
"We got off to a slow start, but credit to Boise State," said Fresno State head coach Brian Zwaschka."They probably got a little bit of the nerves out having played and winning their first game. I was really happy with the way we responded in the second half to get back into it."
Fresno State ended its 2013 season 7-3-1 in MW play and 10-8-2 overall.
