FRESNO, Calif.-- Entering her fourth season at the helm of the Fresno State lacrosse program, head coach Jessica Pausewang announced the 2015 schedule on Tuesday which is highlighted by eight home games on the new Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
"Having eight home games for the 2015 season is a record at Fresno State," said Pausewang. "Our program is excited to bring fantastic competition from outside of the conference to play in our new stadium and to continue to grow the game on the West Coast."
The upcoming 2015 season marks the Bulldogs seventh year in the competitive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation which is comprised of Stanford, California, Oregon, University of Southern California, Colorado, Denver, San Diego State, St. Mary's and UC Davis.
"We are looking forward to a competitive schedule that includes three teams who made an appearance in the NCAA tournament last year," said Pausewang on the 2015 competition.
Fresno State opens season with two MPSF road games at Stanford (Feb. 18) and USC (Feb. 24). The 'Dogs then travel to North and South Carolina for two nonconference matchups where they will face two first year programs in Gardner-Webb (Feb. 27) and Furman (March 1).
The Bulldogs will return to California two days later and open their six-game home stand on March 4 against Campbell. Fresno State then hosts SDSU, Bryant, Winthrop, Monmouth, and closes its home stretch with Oregon on March 23.
After being at home for three weeks, the 'Dogs go on the road for a solo conference game at St. Mary's on March 26 before returning to Fresno for their final two home games of the season against UC Davis on April 8 and California on April 12.
Fresno State closes 2015 regular season play with a road trip at Colorado on April 24 and the Mile High City of Denver on April 26.
Joining Pausewang on the coaching staff is third-year assistant coach Sarah Lautenbach and first-year assistant coach Nicole Price.
"We hope to see support from our community as we are working hard toward growing this program into a top conference competitor," added Pausewang.
Looking forward to an exciting season, the Bulldogs return 18 players and welcome nine freshman to the squad to make up their 27-person roster- the largest in program history.
