FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team hosted the New Zealand National Team in an exhibition on Wednesday evening and came out on top 17-11. Last season's leading scorer Caroline Dineen-Carlson led the Bulldogs with seven goals.
The 'Dogs jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, later extending that lead to 15-5 and never looking back.
"It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to play an international team," Fresno State head coach Jessica Giglio said. "I think it's great that the players got this opportunity and were able to learn some things about another culture."
This exhibition for the Bulldogs is one of many that the team has during the fall, as they gear up for their 2016 season.
"We had moments of greatness," Giglio added. "I think being able to play a full game in the fall outside of our conference is important. We saw things that we will be able to work on before going on to play at Stanford on Sunday."
The regular season gets underway for the 'Dogs in February as they return from a 2015 campaign in which they won a program-best four games.
