Winter Nationals and Georgia Invite Underway

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Three Fresno State swimmers have made it through day two of three in the AT&T Winter National Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
In the 100m backstroke, freshman Ugne Mazutaityte swam a 1:02.89 in the prelims on Friday, then would go into a swim-off and break Lithuania's record with a time of 1:02.62, but wasn't fast enough to make the Finals cut. Mazutaityte will swim in the 200m back on Saturday.
On Thursday, senior Leah Hatayama swam the 50m freestyle in 26.75 seconds and on Friday, in the 100m breaststroke, senior Brooke Rodriguez swam a 1:13.14. Neither Bulldogs made the Finals cuts.
ATHENS, Ga. - Three Bulldog divers have competed in the 1-meter dives in day one of three at the Georgia Fall Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga., on Friday.
Of the 16 divers from eight different schools, Fresno State freshman Irina Nikolaeva placed 10th in the Finals with a score of 244.30 and junior Shelbie Holden placed 14th with a score of 2:08.45. Senior Lacie Ruth did not make the Finals cut.
The women's 3-meter dives will take place on Saturday and the platform dives will be on Sunday.
Participating schools include Georgia, Florida State, Virginia, Penn State, Auburn, Vanderbilt, California (men only), Harvard (diving only) and Fresno State (diving only).
