LOS ANGELES - The Fresno State lacrosse team opened up with an early lead at USC, but fell 17-6 on Tuesday at McAlister Field. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-2 on the season, while USC moved to 2-2.
Senior Marcy Levatino led the Bulldogs with two goals and an assist and Caroline Dineen-Carlson notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Chyna Hill won the opening draw, and less than two minutes later a foul on USC's Gussie Johns led to a free position shot for Marcy Levatino, which the senior took advantage.
Less than a minute later, the Trojans equalized through Michaela Michael. A free position shot for Michael less than a minute later gave the home side a 2-1 lead. Five and a half minutes into the game, Caroline Dineen-Carlson leveled the game at 2-2 with her fourth goal of the season.
A minute later, Amanda Johansen scored her first of five goals for the Trojans as they would take a 3-2 lead and not look back as they would score 14 unanswered goals.
With 22:22 left in the second half, Nicole Ortlieb tallied a goal for the Bulldogs on a free position shot. After nearly nine minutes had passed, Levatino netted her second goal of the game to make it 14-4.
USC added three more goals before Fresno State's Abigail Bergevin scored her first-career goal and Kyleigh Westgarth added one more to the 'Dogs tally with seconds to play.
