FRESNO, Calif. -- After recording 22 saves in two games last week versus Oregon and Saint Mary's, redshirt sophomore Meganne Weissenfels was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
On March 26 on the road at Saint Mary's, Weissenfels played the full 60 minutes, producing 10 saves while allowing just six goals, in an 18-6 win over the Gaels. The native of Coronado, Calif., also caused a turnover and grabbed a ground ball in Moraga, Calif.
Three days earlier, Weissenfels recorded a season-high 12 saves against the Ducks, one shy of her career best. The mark was also one back of the most recorded this season in a single game in the conference.
