BRAZZAVILLE, Congo - Fresno State junior swimmer Tarryn Rennie won a bronze medal in the 4x100 Mixed Medley Relay at the All-Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo, as a representative of Zimbabwe last week. Rennie qualified for finals in all five individual and two team events that she participated in.
"It was really exciting," Rennie said. "The whole team was really pumped about it and it was a great experience to see the excitement and support from Zimbabweans."
Rennie swam in finals in the 50 Butterfly, 100 Butterfly, 200 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 4x100 Mixed Freestyle Relay, but did not place. Swimmers in the All-Africa Games swim long-course meters.
A third-generation Zimbabwean, Rennie grew up in the town of Harare and attended Hellenic International Academy before coming to Fresno State in 2013.
While growing up in Zimbabwe, Rennie swam for its Junior National Team from ages 11 to 17 and earned a total of three silver medals and seven bronze medals in freestyle, butterfly and relay events.
While at Fresno State, Rennie has been a part of the record-breaking 400 Medley Relay team last season and currently holds the second-best time on the Fresno State all-time top times list for the 100 Butterfly.
