Bulldogs XC travels to UW Sundodger Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - A week after kicking off the season with the Fresno State Invitational, the Bulldogs cross country team returns to action on Saturday at the Sundodger Invitational hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.

Location: Lincoln Park, Seattle, Washington
Directions: Take West Seattle Fwy. exit off of I-5 North or South. As you head into West Seattle take a right onto Fauntleroy Way and follow signs to Vashon Ferry Terminal. Lincoln Park is on the West side of Fauntleroy Way.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs kicked off the 2015 season last Friday (Sept. 11) with the Fresno State Invitational out at Woodward Park in Fresno. On the women's side, sophomore Mackenzie Landa was the 'Dogs top finisher placing sixth with a time of 14:29 cutting off 30 seconds from her time in 2014. Also finishing high for the women was newcomer Cristal Rivera Pedraza coming in 24th (15:04) and junior Brittany Laygo finishing 27th in 15:18. Junior Cooper Gill led the men's side with an 18th place finish to clip off almost a minute and a half from his time last year (20:11). All five men who raced placed in the top 35 and the 'Dogs hope to continue that pack running this season.
BULLDOGS AT THE 2014SUNDODGER INVITATIONAL
Fresno State returns to the Sundodger Invitational for the second consecutive year and third time in four years. Both the men and women finished third of four teams with the men scoring 91 points and the women scoring 80. The men were led by a pair of top 20 finishes from Chriss Grimble and Matt Kwiatkowski as the duo ran the 8K course in 15:18 and 15:20, respectively. The women were led by a fifth-place finish by Annemarie Schwanz who clocked a 6K time of 20:46. Landa placed 22nd (22:00) and Meagan Paracholski, Taylor Samson and Brittany Laygo also competed.
TEAMS SET TO COMPETE AT THE SUNDODGER INVITATIONAL
The Bulldogs are expected to compete against host Washington, fellow Pac-12 school Washington State, Seattle University and Oregon State (women only) at this weekend's meet. On the men's side, Washington ranks 21st in the nation in the latest USTFCCA Coaches poll and are fifth in the West Region poll and the Cougar men are 12th in the West. The Huskies women's team is 14th in the nation and third in the West region, while the Beaver women rank 14th in the west region.
STAYING BUSY
The 'Dogs continue to stay busy in the early season next week as they return to California to compete in the Stanford Invitational next Saturday. Annually one of the top meets in the country, Fresno State will line up with many top teams next weekend. After that, they head to the Sacramento State Invitational on Oct. 3.
