Bulldogs host reigning Mountain West Champions

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's swimming and diving team will host reigning Mountain West Champions Nevada in their first dual meet of the 2016-17 season on Saturday Oct. 29.Â

The Wolf Pack competed in the Chick-fil-A Invitational that Fresno State hosted in early October, finishing second. The Bulldogs finished fourth in the invitational.

"We are looking forward to the level of competition we will see this weekend," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "We need to come out strong, swim our fastest and be competitive in every event."

Freshman Manuela Mendolicchio looks to take first place in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke for the third consecutive meet this season. Mendolicchio currently holds the fastest time in the Mountain West for the 200 Breaststroke and the fourth fastest time in the 100 Breaststroke this season.

Sophomore Ugne Mazutaityte also looks to earn her third consecutive first place finish in the 200 Backstroke. Mazutaityte currently holds the second fastest time in the Mountain West for the 100 Backstroke this season.

Senior diver Shelbie Holden will lead the Bulldogs on the boards against the Wolf Pack. Nevada diver Sharae Zheng is the reigning 2016 NCAA 1-meter and 3-meter Champion. Zheng was also named the 2016 NCAA Diver of the Year.

"The divers have been working really hard since the Chick-fil-A Invitational, and I'm excited to see how they compete this weekend," said head diving coach Tarryn Patrick.

Competition will begin at 12 p.m. PT at the Fresno State Aquatics Center. Admission to the meet is free.
