Bulldogs ready for MW Championships

Races in Kuna, Idaho begin at 9 a.m. PT with the women’s 6k race, followed by the men’s 8k race at 9:45 a.m PT
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State will head to the 2016 Mountain West Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Friday at Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna, Idaho. The event, which is hosted by Boise State, gets under way at 9 a.m. PT with the women's 6k race, followed by the men's 8k race at 9:45 a.m PT. Both races will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network.

Bulldogs Lineup at the Championships
The men's team will feature Joel Gonzalez, Jack Kuzminsky, Matt Kwiatkowski, Efren Reyes, Esteban Vega, Michael Viano, Ryan Walker. The women's team includes Brittany Laygo, Alexis Miguel, Raven Nunez, Taylor Samson, Annemarie Schwanz, Jennifer Viramontes, Annelis Walker.
Schwanz on top at Pre-Nats
As the lone Fresno State runner competing on Saturday at the Pre-National Invitational, Annemarie Schwanz continued to add to a stellar season as she won the women's 6K white race with a time of 20:48.5. It was her first win of the season after placing third in the previous two meets.

For the second consecutive meet, senior Annemarie Schwanz set the program record for the women's 6K, this time posting a mark of 20:16.00 Oct. 1 at the Stanford Invitational passing her previous best time by three seconds.Â
Setting PR's at Stanford
Schwanz was not the only Bulldog to finish with a personal best at the at the Stanford Invitational, senior Brittany Laygo also posted her best mark at Fresno State as she finished at 22:15.10. Laygo would later drop 12 seconds off of her PR with a time of 22:03.05 at Bronco Invitational.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs' top two finishers, juniors Joel Gonzalez (24:33.30) and Efren Reyes (24:36.20) also posted new career bests. Both times put them inside the program's Top 25 in all-time in the 8K.
On the Horizon
Fresno State will travel to Sacramento, Calif. for the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 11.
