Fresno State divers finish Trojan Invitational

LOS ANGELES – The Fresno State diving team traveled to Los Angeles to compete in the nine-team Trojan Invitational, hosted by USC. Senior Shelbie Holden, sophomore Kelli Funk and freshman Serena Sedillo competed for the Bulldogs over the weekend.
The invitational featured three events, including the 1-Meter, 3-Meter and platform.
"Our divers had a great weekend at the Trojan Invitational," said head diving coach Taryn Patrick. "Serena and Shelbie qualified for the finals on all boards and qualified for NCAA Zone Diving on the platform."
The Bulldogs were led by senior captain Shelbie Holden over the course of the invitational.
On the first day of the invitational, Holden placed ninth on the 3-Meter with a score of 520.40. Sedillo followed closely in 10th place with a final score of 517.60. Funk finished in the 17th spot with a score of 453.80.
As for day two, Holden led Fresno State with a 12th place finish on the 1-Meter board (463.45). Sedillo had a 14th place finish with a score of 439.20.
 Due to an injury during the 1-Meter competition Kelli Funk was unable to finish the event or compete on the platform.
On the platform, Sedillo placed fourth with a score of 464.05 which was the highest finish by a Bulldog throughout the invitational. Holden finished in ninth place with a final score of 444.65.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend at the A3 Invitational in Los Angeles Nov. 17-19.
Fresno State will return home on Jan. 21 against California State University, East Bay at 12 p.m. PT in the Aquatics Center.
