Fresno State (3-2) returns home to host Menlo College (5-4) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT inside the Save Mart Center. The game will only be broadcast live on 940 AM ESPN Radio. Tickets for the game start at $10.
Taylor Ignites 'Dogs to win at Oregon State
Fresno State junior guard Jahmel Taylor scored a career-high 21 points, and also had career-best single-game marks in assists (4), steals (3) and 3-pointers (6) in the Bulldogs' 63-58 road win at Oregon State. Taylor, who transferred to Fresno State from Washington, made five of his six 3-pointers in the first half and converted 60 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts (6-for-10). It was Fresno State's first win over a Pac-12 team since 2011 and first win over Oregon State since 2006.
Terry climbing Bulldogs' All-Time Wins List
When Fresno State hosts Menlo College on Wednesday night, it will be the 175th game coached by Rodney Terry since arriving prior to the 2011-12 season. Terry has 88 wins in his first six seasons at Fresno State and he is one win away from tying Bill Vandenburgh for sixth on the Bulldogs' all-time head coaching wins list. Vandenburgh won 89 games and two conference titles during his six-year tenure (1954-60) with the Bulldogs. Terry, who is the 18th head coach in program history, will be the fifth Fresno State head coach to coach at least 175 games.
The previous four Fresno State head coaches to coach at least 175 games are: Boyd Grant, Ed Gregory, Jerry Tarkanian and Steve Cleveland.
About the Menlo College Oaks
The Menlo College Oaks are a NAIA school out of the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Oaks are led by Jared Wall (14.2 ppg). Menlo College is 5-4 on the season, including an 80-59 victory over UC Merced. This is the first ever meeting between Fresno State and Menlo College.
Bulldogs win 2016 Orange Express Championship
For the second straight season, Fresno State won a nonconference multi-team exempt tournament as the Bulldogs won the 2016 Orange Express with a 3-1 record in the round robin format played at campus sites. In the four-game affair, Fresno State defeated UTSA (69-66), Lamar (83-64) and Oregon State (63-58), and lost to PVAMU (84-78). To win the title, Fresno State won the tiebreaker with Lamar, who also went 3-1 in tournament games, by virtue of the Bulldogs' 83-64 head-to-head win over the Cardinals. Last season, Fresno State won the 2015 Roundball Showcase. Fresno State is now 10-2 since the start of the 2015-16 season in tournament contests.
Watson rises to 28th on All-Time Scoring List
Bulldogs' senior guard/forward Paul Watson - the 2013-14 Mountain West Freshman of the Year - gives Fresno State a versatile option on the wing and the post. Watson played both positions last season, primarily on the wing. Now in his fourth season at Fresno State, he has converted 41.4 percent (355-for-859) of his field goal attempts and 37.0 percent (146-for-395) of his 3-point field goal attempts. He has 1,056 career points to rank 28th on the program's all-time scoring list and currently sits 11 points away from tying Mitch Arnold (1982-85) for 27th (1,067 career points).
