Fresno State (4-2) begins a two-game Midwest road trip when the Bulldogs travel to play at Drake (1-6) for the 2016 Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT. Â The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 (www.WatchESPN.com) and 940 AM ESPN Radio.
About the Drake Bulldogs
The Drake Bulldogs (Missouri Valley Conference) are 1-6 this season, with a win over Simpson (76-61) and enter Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak with three losses in the Great Alaska Shootout and a close 77-75 loss at DePaul this past Wednesday. Â Drake is led by Reed Timmer (16.3 ppg). Â This is the third meeting between the programs, with Drake winning the previous two meetings. Drake defeated Fresno State 84-74 in Fresno on Nov. 29, 2013 and 70-54 in Des Moines during the 1949-50 season.
Taylor ignites 'Dogs to win at Oregon State
Fresno State junior guard Jahmel Taylor scored a career-high 21 points, and also had career-best single-game marks in assists (4), steals (3) and 3-pointers (6) in the Bulldogs' 63-58 road win at Oregon State. Taylor, who transferred to Fresno State from Washington, made five of his six 3-pointers in the first half and converted 60 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts (6-for-10). It was Fresno State's first win over a Pac-12 team since 2011 and first win over Oregon State since 2006.
Terry Climbing Bulldogs' All-Time Wins List
When Fresno State defeated Menlo College 80-67 on Wednesday night, it was the 175th game coached by Rodney Terry since arriving prior to the 2011-12 season. Â Terry has 89 wins in his first six seasons at Fresno State and he is tied with Bill Vandenburgh (1954-60) for sixth on the Bulldogs' all-time head coaching wins list. Â Terry is now three wins away from tying Steve Cleveland (2005-11), who 92 career wins with the 'Dogs, for fifth on the all-time wins list. Terry is the 18th head coach in program history and the fifth Fresno State head coach to coach at least 175 games.
