Faz Davalos records 19 points and 17 rebounds in seventh double-double of the season.
STOCKTON, Calif. – For the fourth time in its last six games, Fresno State did not trail this season, defeating Pacific in a wire-to-win 74-67 win at Stockton Arena.
The Bulldogs' offense was keyed by its inside-outside game as 12 of their 19 assists came Bego Faz Davalos (7) and Kendra Martin (5). The assists led to the Bulldogs knocking down a season-high 50 percent from 3 (9-of-18).
Inside, Pacific was unable to contain Faz Davalos as she led the Bulldogs with her seventh double-double of the season and fourth in a row. The junior finished the game leading the 'Dogs in points (19), rebounds (17), assists (7) and blocks (4).
Fresno State jumped out to a 14-4 advantage in the opening 4:32 of the game. Pacific then responded with back-to-back 3's to pull its deficit back to four. Fresno State was able to build its lead back up and took an eight-point lead into the second quarter. The Tigers scrapped back and pulled with one midway through the second, but Candice White answered with back-to-back 3's late in quarter as the 'Dogs took a 40-33 lead into the half.
Out of the break, neither team could miss, knocking down a combined 9-of-9 consecutive shots. Pacific cut Bulldogs deficit to five. That was as close as the 'Dogs would allow the Tigers to get the rest of the game.
How It happened: With 6:02 remaining in the third, Pacific called a timeout after cutting Fresno State's lead 51-46. The Bulldogs then scored the next seven straight points to never relinquish the lead. Pacific could cut its deficit to as low as seven late in the fourth quarter.
