Mazutaityte breaks two Lithuanian records at 13th FINA World Swimming Championships

 WINDSOR, Ontario - Sophomore Ugne Mazutaityte traveled to Canada to compete in the 13th FINA World Swimming Championships, representing Lithuania. The best swimmers from over 175 countries will compete for 46 medals over the course of the championship.
"Ugne had a great week in Canada setting Lithuanian records in two events," said head swim coach Jeanne Fleck. "She is really setting herself up for the end of the season. It was exciting to see her do so well at the FINA World Championships on a big stage, in the presence of Olympians. We are really proud of her."
On Tuesday, Mazutaityte broke the Lithuanian record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.73. She placed 27th out of 71 competitors.
Mazutaityte broke the Lithuanian record in the 200 Backstroke on Thursday, with a time of 2:07.79. She finished 20th overall in the event.
In the 50 Backstroke, she recorded a time of 28.81. Mazutaityte finished 40th overall in the event, Friday morning. Her time was just shy of the 28.78 Lithuanian record in the 50 Backstroke.Â
The sophomore now holds the fastest time in the Mountain West in the 200 Backstroke with her time from this week. She also holds the second best time in the 100 Backstroke.Â
